  17. <p>    What do you call a hookup of 300 screens, miles of cable
  18. and spare bits of a British-made missile-guidance system that
  19. was part of the Strategic Defense Initiative? Not Star Wars, for
  20. sure, though it won't get off the ground either. Media master
  21. NAM JUNE PAIK labels it Fin de Siecle II, and his video
  22. sculpture is part of a show that opened last week at Manhattan's
  23. Whitney Museum. Paik, 58, creates high-tech works "because I
  24. have nothing else to do. I was an electronic-music composer in
  25. the '50s, but there were too many of them and no electronic
  26. artists, so I changed." Starting as a primitive -- "I found 13
  27. used TV sets and went to work" -- he's entered the space age.
